Lakers haven't aggressively pursued Kawhi Leonard trade recently

Los Angeles Lakers under pressure to pull off Kawhi Leonard trade: report

National Basketball Association free agency kicks off Sunday, and all eyes will be focused on LeBron James. He has the Spurs at his fingertips despite the organization still holding the rights to the player.

It's unclear what a deal would look like or if the Spurs even have interest in any of the players now on the Clippers' roster. The mysterious ailment raised eyebrows, including Leonard's own Spurs teammates', with one of the bunch being a bit more vocal about the ordeal than the others.

The Spurs had been working hard to fix their relationship with the disgruntled star.

"I believe the Lakers have the inside track for getting LeBron".

"Leonard wants a trade to Los Angeles, preferably the Lakers over the Clippers, league sources said". I don't know where. The Lakers could theoretically stop there, but if the Spurs play hardball and the Lakers really think LeBron James would 100% come if Kawhi was there, they may have to up the ante. The relationship between the two has been strained beyond fix and their only recourse is to part ways. However, it appears as though the Lakers and San Antonio Spurs might be out to spite us.

The latter has until June 29 to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, which he is widely expected to do.

However, George could re-sign with Oklahoma City for $176 million for five years.

For this article, I will be taking a look at five of the Lakers' free agents, and whether the team should bring them back, or let them walk and find another National Basketball Association team to join.

The Spurs are in no rush to make a deal, and don't necessarily have to, preferring to try to fix their relationship with Leonard and potentially reward him with a super-max contract.

Trading for Leonard would be very risky for the Celtics as they already have a team that could contend for the title. Philadelphia has the combination of unproven prospects, draft picks and capable players that might be able to get a deal done. If he did, the former NBA Finals MVP would probably end up on the Lakers. In just his second season, the versatile forward averaged 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. He also shot almost 50 percent from the field that season while making 38 percent on threes and 88 percent from the line. As a result, he has not played in a game since January 13.

That's a steep price to pay, but if the Lakers believe that's what will lure LeBron James west, then it's not far-fetched to believe it's on the table.

"The third choice here other than Boston or LA - the Spurs could just keep Kawhi and hope that they can fix the situation".

Let's say the Spurs get Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers. Spurs teammates questioned the severity of the injury as Leonard's absence continued after the team had cleared him medically. Given all of that information, it seems as though that a trade between the Lakers and the Spurs would fall in the range of those two reports.
