Jared Kushner says administration still 'fact-finding' in Jamal Khashoggi death investigation

Think Trump is erratic now? Just wait until after the midterm

New surveillance video taken by Turkish law enforcement purportedly shows a Saudi agent suspected in Jamal Khashoggi's killing wearing the slain journalist's clothes on the day investigators say he was murdered.

There has been speculation Khashoggi was murdered because of his open criticism of the Crown Prince but Saudi authorities insist the royal played no part in his death.

Five Turkish employees of the Saudi consulate in Istanbul are giving statements as witnesses under an investigation into the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Turkish broadcaster NTV said on Monday.

Although he asserted that Saudi Arabia was determined to take action to investigate Khashoggi's killing and hold those responsible accountable, al-Jubeir claimed that the government doesn't know how the journalist was killed or where his body is.

Saudi officials originally said Khashoggi, who stepped inside the doors of the diplomatic mission on October 2, had left unharmed, before announcing he was killed inside the building in what they described as an altercation.

As Turkish President Erdogan is expected to reveal all details into the journalist's killing, Trump has stepped back from his stance that Saudi Arabia's latest explanation over the death was credible amid mounting pressure at home.

Turkish police believe The Washington Post columnist was murdered and dismembered shortly after he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2; Turkish media have reported that a 15-man hit team was sent from Riyadh specifically for the assignment.

Britain was outflanked by Germany yesterday after Angela Merkel called for a halt to arms sales to Saudi Arabia over the death of Jamal Khashoggi. But the Saudi's claim that the 59-year-old Washington Post columnist died in a fistfight contradicted Turkey's accounts that he was tortured, killed and dismembered by members of the crown prince's entourage.

Stephen Gethins of the SNP, who organised the letter, said: "What outrages does the Saudi government have to commit before the United Kingdom government says "enough is enough"?"

Britain, Germany and France issued a joint statement condemning the killing of Khashoggi, saying there is an "urgent need for clarification of exactly what happened".

Officials in Saudi Arabia have not answered repeated requests for comment from The Associated Press in recent days, including on Monday. The newspaper said that Khashoggi's fingers were cut-off before he was beheaded.

The kingdom acknowledged early Saturday that Khashoggi died in a brawl in its consulate, but did not give any explanation on the cause of his death.

Paul said that he doesn't believe that "arms should ever be seen as a jobs program", adding that the Saudis are using USA arms in the war in Yemen where civilians are being killed. Saudi Arabia is Germany's second-largest weapons customer, according to official data reported by German news agency DPA.

Turkey earlier said 15 Saudis who travelled to Istanbul were involved in Khashoggi's disappearance.

There are limits to the kingdom's ability to respond, Al-Falih said.

Trump said: "We'd like to find out where it is and what happened".

In a column published last week, Saudi-owned Al Arabiya channel's general manager Turki Aldakhil warned that imposing sanctions on Riyadh could spark global economic disaster as oil could jump to $200 per barrel.
