Evangelical Leaders Meet Saudi Crown Prince, 'Lift Up the Name of Jesus'

Crown Prince meets American Evangelical delegation

Yasin Aktay, an adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has alleged that Saudi government operatives dissolved journalist Jamal Khashoggi's body after murdering and dismembering the 59-year-old.

"Khashoggi was killed according to a plan previously prepared and his body was dismembered and discarded", the newspaper said, citing the Turkish statement.

Khashoggi's killing has led to Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter, facing a torrent of global condemnation, upending the young crown prince's image as a reformer on the worldwide stage.

The office of Turkey's chief public prosecutor on Wednesday said Khashoggi had been strangled and dismembered soon after entering the consulate and his body was disposed of.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday condemned the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, in his first comments on the affair, but stressed the need for stability in Saudi Arabia.

His body has not yet been found, but Turkey, the U.S. and Saudi Arabia have all agreed that he was killed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October.

The whereabouts of Khashoggi's remains are unknown, and the U.S., Turkey, and other nations have called for Saudi Arabia to fully cooperate in a transparent investigation into his death.

Saudi authorities denied Turkish police permission to search a well in the garden of the consulate, but did allow them to take water samples for analysis, local media reported. Scrutiny and suspicion have fallen on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is known for taking direct measures against those who oppose him.

Hatice Cengiz made her appeal in a video message to a memorial in Washington where friends and activists marked one month since Khashoggi's death and paid tribute to his advocacy for democratic change in the Arab world.

"But the Trump administration has taken a position that is devoid of moral foundation", she wrote Friday.

"We must all send a clear message that authoritarian regimes can not kill journalists ever again", she said.

Saudi Arabia admitted last week that Khashoggi was murdered in a premeditated act, but has denied involvement of the Saudi royal family.

Mr Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and critic of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was killed on October 2 after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to get the paperwork needed to marry his Turkish fiancee.

In a sign the administration and its supporters are not backing off support for Mohammed, a group of evangelical leaders - some closely associated with Trump - met in Riyadh this week with the crown prince.

The worldwide community refused to accept the Saudi claim that the incident was not a premeditated murder. "His invitation of Turkish investigators to Saudi Arabia for more talks about the case felt like a desperate and deliberate stalling tactic".

In her article, Cengiz noted that the one-month anniversary of Khashoggi's death fell on the UN's International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.

Other speakers called for the United States not to balance its strategic and military interests against the necessity of seeking justice for the journalist's killing.
