Gonzalo Higuain is officially a Chelsea player, at least for the remainder of the 2018-19 campaign, the club's official website has confirmed.

Maurizio Sarri said Gonzalo Higuain was one of the best strikers he had ever worked with after the Argentina worldwide reunited with his former manager having completed a loan move to Chelsea on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old was at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea's League Cup semi-final win on Thursday, but had not completed his move in time to be registered for that match.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri dismissed concerns that Higuain could become Chelsea's latest disappointing striker signing and backed him to rediscover his best scoring form at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are now in fourth place in the Premier League table as they look to try and finish in the top four and secure Champions League qualification in Sarri's first campaign in charge.

"Higuain usually is able to score 25 or 30 goals every season", Sarri said. He's also very good at other aspects, other than just goals, but that's what we are hoping for.

"It's an opportunity. We play a game on our pitch and there are players who need to be rested and it could be an opportunity".




'We all know that I like to play the give and go with my striker so if the forward just goes deep, I'm going to be in trouble.

Giroud has been directly involved in 22 goals in 27 FA Cup appearances since 2013, and has won the trophy four times with Arsenal and Chelsea. Strikers Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud are out of favor under Sarri, who has experimented by deploying Eden Hazard _ usually a winger _ as a center forward but to no great effect. "Maybe I have to show more in training to be back in the team".

"I think Higuain is one of the best".

The Spaniard cost a then club-record $77 million when he signed from Real Madrid in July 2017, but now seems set for a loan move to Atletico Madrid to make way for Higuain.

"We hope he brings goals, that he starts scoring for us".

"I think that Morata is potentially a very important player".
