Donald Trump says Robert Mueller report release up to William Barr

Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein to expected to leave DOJ in March

President Donald Trump will nominate attorney Jeffrey Rosen to replace Rod Rosenstein as deputy attorney general, the White House said Tuesday night.

McCabe said in an interview on CBS's "60 Minutes" broadcast on Sunday that Rosenstein discussed with him in 2017 whether there were enough members of Trump's cabinet who would support removing the president for being unfit under the Constitution's 25th Amendment.

In response to a question about how long Rosenstein will remain the deputy attorney general, White House Strategic Communications Director Mercedes Schlapp told Fox News on February 19 that the decision is up to Rosenstein and that President Donald Trump has a good relationship with Rosenstein.

A Justice Department official says Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is expected to leave his position in the middle of next month.

The Justice Department oversees the nation's law enforcement and various federal investigations, including the U.S. Special Counsel's Office probe into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible collusion by Trump's presidential campaign.

The attorney general, in turn, is required to inform the Judiciary Committees of Congress about Mueller's report in the form of 'brief notifications, with an outline of the actions and the reasons for them'. Barr faced numerous questions during his confirmation hearing about whether he would continue the Mueller probe and publish its findings.

Last month, it was reported that Rosenstein would leave the DOJ at the conclusion of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation, which is looking at whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation to win the 2016 election. "I have known him for more than a decade as a man of integrity and I know he will serve with distinction as the deputy attorney general". Rosenstein strongly denied that allegation, calling McCabe's statements "factually incorrect".

He also served as general counsel and a senior policy adviser at the White House Office of Management and Budget from 2006 to 2009.

The Mueller probe has also spawned several investigations that are being handled by other offices and will carry on after Mr Mueller's work is done. It was Rosenstein who appointed Robert Mueller special counsel.

Rosen has worked in both the public and private sector, including as senior partner for the global law firm Kirkland & Ellis.
